Welcome to FlatMate ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the FlatMate mobile application (the "App").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account & Identity Information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect your name, email address, profile avatar, and profile customisations like your chosen emoji and colour.
2.2 Flat & Group Information
When you create or join a shared flat/group, we collect the flat name, emoji, preferred currency, and invite codes.
2.3 Financial & Expense Data
To provide our core splitting features, we collect expense titles, amounts, dates, categories, and details of how expenses are split. We also track recurring bills and settlement requests.
2.4 Chores & Tasks
We collect chore titles, icons, due dates, assigned members, and completion status.
2.5 Shopping Lists
We collect item names, quantities, costs, and who added or purchased each item.
2.6 Push Notification Tokens
With your permission, we collect your device's push notification token to send you relevant alerts.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate the App's core features, authenticate your identity securely via Clerk, store and sync your data via Supabase, and send notifications relevant to your flat activity.
We do not use your data for advertising purposes, nor do we sell your personal information to third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 With Your Flatmates
By nature of the App, information you enter (expenses, chores, shopping items, notes) is visible to all members of your flat.

5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Supabase servers using industry-standard encryption. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using Expo SecureStore.

7. Children's Privacy
FlatMate is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
